Liam McGee’s Degree show work is shaped by the influence of his relationship with his identical twin whose support was vital while growing up in Glasgow. This bond informed Liam’s early understanding of identity, revealing how a sense of self can form in relation to another person or an environment.

After leaving home and moving to Dundee for university, Liam became increasingly aware that the foundation of his identity had been constructed in relation to his twin. This realisation led him to explore broader philosophical questions surrounding identity and the forces that shape how we understand ourselves.

Throughout this body of work, Liam uses an intense red light as a metaphor for the relationship he shares with his twin. It is used to suggest a connection that can be comforting yet consuming.
